the info on macrosomia

Babies Who Are Larger Than Normal Babies

What does being large mean in today’s society. Does it mean your wealthy or a fantastic athlete? May or maby you were born with LGA. Or also known as big baby syndrome it affects over 12% of children in the world today. That’s a lot of children; lga is when a baby is larger than 90% of other children. Like say a normal baby is like say 8 lbs and the large child are 10 lbs. but what are the effects? What is the cause? Well were going to find out.

But what causes the giant baby syndrome, well it is a combination of several different things first off if the parents are big then the baby will be big it’s the genetics of the parents fusing with the baby to make it into a giant baby also if the mother during pregnancy gains a insane amount of weight then the baby has a higher likely hood to grow into some kind of Godzilla baby. But the big thing is the maternal diabetes, the mother makes too much sugar and the child cannot handle all the sugar so it ends up absorbing all the sugar like some kind of fat sponge.

lga can cause many complications with birthing like.

  • prolonged vaginal delivery time
  • difficult birth
  • increase in cesarean delivery

This is a vaginal nightmare, and after you are all tore up from the floor up you have to deal with a lot of health problems concerning your kid.”These infants are very likely to become hypoglycemic in the first 1 to 2 h after delivery because of the state of hyperinsulinism and the sudden termination of maternal glucose when the umbilical cord is cut. Neonatal hypoglycemia can be prevented by close prenatal control of the mother's diabetes and by the prophylactic IV infusion of 10% dextrose in water into the infant until early frequent feedings can be established. Blood glucose levels should be closely monitored by bedside testing during the transition period..” this breaks my heart and makes me sad we need to cure this right now before all the large children rise up and take over new York. - jake dibble
